Train The Trainers Program For Clinicians On Clinical Blood Banking
In an effort to provide more robust blood services, National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) and the National Health Mission, under the purview of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare organised an extensive 'TRAIN THE TRAINERS' program from 8th for 13th January at NIB in Noida (UP).
The program, attended by Clinicians from several rural and urban health centres and blood banks, was geared to enhance their knowledge base about clinical blood banking and Safe Blood Practices.
I was, and am very happy to have got the opportunity to address the delegates and share my knowledge and experience on two key topics:
1. Safe Blood Transfusion - Educating the trainers on how and when, to safely transfuse blood, platelets and FFP - all about the RIGHT BLOOD TO THE RIGHT PATIENT AT THE RIGHT TIME AND PLACE.
2. My second topic of discussion was focused on identification of Iron-Deficiency Anaemia and the Thalassaemia trait on the basis of a CBC report.
India carries a serious burden of anaemia and thalassaemia, and I hope that with their enhanced knowledge base, these clinicians would become the champions to help create an aneaemia and thalassaemia free India.
